Eagle Battalion Drill Team
The high school drill team competes in drill meets in Southwest Missouri with other JROTC programs throughout the calendar year. Navy, Marine, Air Force and Army JROTC units compete in these events. There are a number of different teams within the Drill Team including Exhibition with Weapons, Exhibition without Weapons, Color Guard, Institutional with Weapons and Institutional without Weapons.
Exhibition with Weapons:
This team is considered the most challenging and rewarding of the teams. Most members have been on the team for more than two years as the skills required to be competitive require years of practice. Teams demonstrate creative, exciting routines including the dramatic use of drill rifles.
Exhibition without Weapons:
This team is similar to the one above, without the weapons. These exhibitions include creative marching and often include movements that might be considered choreographed team dance.
Color Guard:
The competition color guard consists of four cadets. There are two Rifle Bearers, one National Color Bearer and one State Color Bearer. Competitions are based on regulation drill with the colors. Precision, respect to colors and appearance are keys to the competitiveness of these teams.
Regulation with Weapons
This team performs a pre-established sequence of commands which conform to Army Drill and Ceremony regulations. Like the color guard, precision and appearance are key.
Regulation without Weapons
The Institutional Without Weapons drill team is very much like the team outlined above, but without carrying weapons.
Individual Competitions
In addition to the team events, individual cadets may compete at the drill meets. Some of the events include individual drill with weapons and individual drill downs without weapons.
